Earl Frank Bennett - 84, of Steam Mill, Kings County, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Canning, he was a son of the late Charlie Bennett and step-son of the late George and Effie Bennett. In his earlier years, he was employed with Jordan’s Dairy, Kentville. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Kings Branch No. 6, Kentville. While living in Ontario, he served with the Canadian Army and was employed with Silver Woods Dairy. Returning to Kentville, he was employed with Willett Fruit Company, from where he retired. In the summertime, his garden was his pride and joy and during the winter, he enjoyed doing jig saw puzzles. He is survived by his wife, the former Lulu Coleman; step-daughters, Irene Clark, London, Ontario; Peggy van Hattem (Les Hatt), Kentville; step-son, Kenneth (Marilyn) Coleman, New Minas; sister, Geraldine (Earl) Millett; brother, Harold; step-brother, Emerson Bennett; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Madeline; two step-sons, David and Alex; step-brothers, Laurie, Kenneth and Clarence Bennett. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, with a Royal Canadian Legion service held at 6:00 p.m. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013, in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Thelma McLeod officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Valley Hospice Foundation.
