EDGETT, RICHARD - Richard Edwin Edgett, 61, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia died July 21, 2013 at Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Rick was the youngest of four children and the only son of the late Edwin and Verna (Carter) Edgett. A talented guitarist and songwriter, Rick answered his calling - on the first ring - and enjoyed a lifetime of writing, playing, recording and teaching music. His gift allowed him to travel across Canada, to the United States, Australia, and Hawaii, forming life-long friendships along the way. Many cherished moments with his family were spent together in song. Rick’s music, tenderness of heart, compassion, love of animals, passion for baseball and penchant for story-telling and conversation are the legacies he leaves those whose lives he touched. Rick is survived by his life-long soul partner and mother of his children, Cheryl Edgett, daughters, Alayna Edgett (Raymond Smith), Elizabeth Edgett, Chelsea Edgett, Laura Edgett (Clark Crouse), sons, Evan Edgett, Christopher Edgett, step-daughter, Andrea Cote (Deborah Erickson), granddaughter, Kaitlynne, grandsons, Bradley, Owen, Liam and Ares, step-grandsons Cody and Jace, sisters Sharon Edgett, Judy (Gerry) Warner, eleven nieces and one nephew. In addition to his parents, Rick was predeceased by his sister, Gail Lawrence.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013 at 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland Street, Dartmouth. Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 at 2pm in First Baptist Church, 100 Ochterloney Street, Dartmouth. Donations may be made to your charity of choice.
