Dorothy C. Pippy, 87, of Springfield, Illinois, and formerly of Springhill, passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at her residence. Born in Springhill, on October 17, 1925, she was a daughter of the Late James and Sarah Merlin Wilson.
Dorothy was an avid bridge player and loved to bowl; was well known for her wonderful apple pies, and was a crossing guard at Carl Sandburg School in Springfield for over 35 years. She looked forward to her yearly visits back to Nova Scotia and especially her cottage at Northport.
She is survived by her children, Diana Pippy and David Pippy both of Springfield, Susan (Larry) Kron of Seattle and Cathy Sharp of Springfield; five grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Pippy whom she married on September 8, 1948; sister, Jean Potter and brother, Kenneth Wilson.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). A Graveside Committal service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:00 am in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill.
