LEGER, REGINALD J. - 1932 - 2013 - Reginald J. Leger "Reg", 81, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013. Born in Shediac on June 24th, 1932, he was the son of the late Émile and Elzire (Theriault) Leger. Reginald retired in 1987 from C.N.R. as a General Supervisor, after 37 years of service 15 of which were spent in Halifax, NS while residing in Herring Cove, NS. He and his wife, Jean moved to Riverview, and maintained a seasonal residence in Herring Cove, NS for an additional 20 years. Reginald served in the Canadian Military in Shediac, Moncton and in Halifax, with the 1st Halifax Field Regiment R.C.A. as C.W.O. (R.S.M.) and was awarded the Centennial Medal in 1967. He was a member of the C.N.R. Supervisor Association, C.N. Pensioners, Air Force Veterans, and the Beausejour Curling Club. He was an avid curler, card player and gardener. Reginald will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Jean (Dempsey) Leger of 59 years; his son, Daniel of Ottawa, ON; four sisters: Rachelle LeBlanc (Bob) of Riverview, Lucille Pardiac (Paul) of Montreal. QC, Doris LaBelle (Réné) of Detroit, MI and Yalonde Boucher of Temiscaming, QC; a grand-daughter, Victoria of Riverview, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by two brothers: Hubert and Raymond; three sisters: Leonie, Evelyn and Emilia.
As per his request, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church at Point-du-Chêne on Saturday, July 27th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. There will be a reception following the mass at the church. Reg’s family would like to thank the staff of the 3rd & 4th floor of the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont UHC for their excellent care of Reg during his illness. In Reg’s memory, donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
