The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Friday, July 19, 2013, of Ross William Lefurgey of Summerside, in his 80th year. Ross was born on Sept. 5, 1933, in Summerside to his late parents Osborne and Katherine (nee Gordon) Lefurgey. Completing many accomplishments in his life, Ross was a councillor and former mayor for the Town of Summerside, a charter member of the Summerside Lions Club, past president of the East Prince Funeral Home, along with time spent with numerous other volunteer organizations. He recently received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and spent many, many hours working at his wood shop and driving his special little yellow Nash. Ross spent most of his life in sales and became part owner until he retired at Town & Country Interiors. He also enjoyed playing cards and Crib with his friends. Ross was lovingly married for 58 years to his wife Joan (nee Bradshaw) Lefurgey and was a loving father to Nial of Charlottetown and his children Matthew and Mary Ellen (Scott); Shane (Janet) of Summerside and their children Jonathan (Laura) and Amanda (Andrew); and Garth (Jennifer) of Dunk River and their children Brycen, Denika and Sawyer. Also lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Marlene and Belinda Lefurgey along with other sisters and brother-in-law and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Besides his parents, Ross was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Arlene Lefurgey and brothers Robert and Donald "Dee". Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Sunday, July 28, where an informal evening with family and friends will be held at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. A private committal service will be held at a later date at People's Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations in Ross's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
