John Edward "Ed" Schofield

SCHOFIELD, JOHN EDWARD "ED" - John Edward "Ed" Schofield of Woodstock, NB, formerly of Plaster Rock passed away peacefully at the Upper River Valley Hospital where he was a resident for the last year on July 26, 2013. Born in Plaster Rock, NB, on November 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Crudence and Elsie (Baker) Schofield. Edward leaves behind his son Michael (Pam) Schofield; daughters Heidi (Carl) Christian of Woodstock, Cindy (Wayne) Swinnard of Coles Harbour, NS; his pride and joy were his grandchildren Jennifer (John) Ardley of Wellington, NS, Sean Swinnard of Cole Harbour, NS, Logan (Katie) Schofield of Woodstock, Megan Nicholson of Cole Harbour, NS, Caden (Kayla Tomah) Schofield of Woodstock; great grandchildren Julia Swinnard and Josiah Ardley; sisters Elsie Burridge, Hazel (Gerald) Bucci of Plaster Rock, Helen Mae Roberts of Calgary. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Ethel (Taylor) Schofield; step-mother Mae Schofield; brothers Bill and Wallace and baby sister Mary; brothers-in-law Albert Burridge and Brian Roberts. Edward worked as a Stationary Engineer at Fraser's Inc. until his retirement and was a night watchman at Tobique Valley Hospital. Edward had many pastimes which included Golfing and Hunting. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the Tobique Lions Club and St. Andrew's Church. A volunteer fireman for 40 years (Fire Chief) and a volunteer ambulance driver. He sang in the St. Andrew's Church Choir and sat on different boards of the church.
Resting at Tobique Chapel in Plaster Rock with visiting hours on Sunday 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 2 pm from St. Andrew's United Church. Rev. Steve Longmoore officiating. Interment will be in the Plaster Rock Community Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to NB Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover and Plaster Rock, NB. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of 2 East (ALC) of the Upper River Valley Hospital for the care they gave to Ed over the past year.
