STRONG - October 29, 1973 - July 28, 2013 -Wade Hugh Strong of Cochrane, formerly of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2013, at the age of 39 years. Wade is survived by his parents, JoAnn Olson of Medicine Hat, Malcolm Strong (Gillian Newman) of Cochrane; one sister, Heidi (Bryan) Jakubec of Williams Lake (their children, Chloe and Oren); his grandmother, Grace Strong of Drake, Saskatchewan; aunts, uncles and cousins, Sandra Olson (her children, Monty and Derek Selanders) of Airdrie, Myrna (Randy) Foster of Bracken, Saskatchewan (their children, Dana (Trevor) Murphy of Maple Creek and Travis (Kealey) Foster of Bracken, Saskatchewan), Neil Olson of Central Butte (his children, Dillon, Morgan and Riley), Melody (Dale) Harris of Prince George, Marcia (Pierre) Grobety, (their children, Jehna (Carlos) Pinheiro, Chelsea (Randy) Komorofky all of Winnipeg and Ryan (Amanda) Grobety of Brandon), Marshall Strong of Regina and Morley Strong (Ellen Dotten) of Drake, Saskatchewan; Gillian’s children, Kimberley, Meaghan, Hailey, Luc and Alex. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Hugh Strong, Clifford and Eunice Olson and his uncle Carl Olson. Wade was born to JoAnn Strong (Olson) and Malcolm Strong in Edmonton on October 29, 1973. In 1974 when Wade was 8 months old he and his parents and sister Heidi moved to Brooks, Alberta. Wade and family moved to Brunei in 1976 where his dad was employed with Schlumberger. This is where he started Kindergarten at the age of 3 attending a Dutch school. A few months later, they moved to Singapore and when that job ended in 1977, the family moved to Medicine Hat. Wade attended elementary school in Medicine Hat at Webster Niblock, most of his high school at Crescent Heights High and graduate from McCoy High School. He was a sports enthusiast and played hockey, ball, soccer and golf. Soon after grade 12 graduation, Wade obtained his class 1 license then worked for Halliburton for 6 months then was employed as a fracer by Nowsco for 3 years. In 1995, Wade moved to Red Deer and worked for Trican for 1 year. Wade moved back to Medicine Hat in 1996 and worked for Calfrac for 10 years where he was promoted to the position of frac supervisor. He then moved on and became a consultant with Essential Coil Tubing Services for 2 years. Then Wade decided to combine work with his love of travel and accepted a consultant position with Schlumberger in Oman United Arab Emirates. He travelled to many countries including, Thailand, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Beijing China, Panama, Cuba, Mexico, Denmark, France, England Germany, Italy and Switzerland. On another one of his adventures, Wade and some other Canadian boys drove from Mexico City to Nicaragua, passing through 7 countries. Wade acquired many friends during his travels an also learned the cultures and languages of those countries. Some of the friends he obtained along the way were not 2 legged. He befriended monkeys, alligators, crocodiles and very recently donkeys, sheep and his mini horse named “Buttercup.” Wade had an infectious sense of humour and an insatiable thirst for knowledge, constantly reading books and researching on the internet. He had a remarkable memory and could tell stories with such great detail that he left listeners in awe and usually erupting with laughter. Wade was a high achiever and dedicated to hard work ethics. Although he was only 39, he lived his life to the fullest, enjoying each day. Wade has left a legacy of being known in many countries throughout the world for his generous and kind personality. The funeral service was held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend.
