He is also survived by his sister Renie McKelvie of Sault St. Marie and Doug McCaig of Fort Frances. He leaves behind many other beloved relatives and friends.

David was predeceased by his first wife of 25 years, Rena Josephine (nee MacDonald) who passed away in 1982 and his second wife of 27 years Barbara Susan (nee Hansen) who passed away in 2010. He lovingly and devotedly cared for both in their respective times of convalescence.
David was born on November 30, 1930 in Fort Frances, Ontario. He proudly attended the single room schoolhouse in Crozier (number 3). By profession he was an industrial electrician and highly regarded electrical supervisor. He worked in the pulp and paper industry in Fort Frances, Ontario, Crofton, BC and for the last 26 years in Kamloops. He retired from Weyerhauser Pulp Mill in 1993.
Living the last 47 years of his life in Kamloops, he was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and loved few things more than camping and fishing with his family and close friends. He also enjoyed gardening, tending his many fruit trees, and long hours in his garage woodworking and repairing almost anything. Above all he delighted in his grandchildren and following their interests and activities. He will be deeply missed.
His funeral will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013 in the Kamloops Funeral Home Chapel, 285 Fortune Drive, Kamloops, BC. His son, Father Scott McCaig will preside. He will be interred in a family ceremony at Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the many doctors and staff of the Royal Inland Hospital, especially those on the Renal Unit who cared for him in an exemplary manner for the last years of his life.
In gratitude, the family asks that any memorial donations be made to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, 311 Columbia St., Kamloops, BC, V2C 2T1.
