DICKINSON, RAYMOND "RAY" H. - The passing of Raymond “Ray” Hudson Dickinson, husband of the late Marion L. (Tapley) Dickinson, occurred at the Veteran’s Heath Unit, Fredericton on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at the age of 96. Ray was a carpenter by trade. Ray served with the Carleton York Regiment during World War II (1939-1945) and was involved with several organizations especially the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No.4 Fredericton where he was an active member and a dedicated volunteer. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force Association No. 252 Wing. Ray is survived by brothers Clifford (June) of Kitchener, Ont. and Deane if Michigan, USA; a sister Jean Kellaway of Massachusetts, USA; a son Raymond Jr. of England; a step-daughter, Elaine Hodgson and her husband George of Victoria BC; two grandchildren, Nicola and Christopher; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by his parents J. Clifford and M. Lillian Dickinson; his wife Marion (2002); a daughter, Helen Turner (late David); a sister Gloria Clark and brothers Roland, Ronald and Gerald.
Visitation will be held at Brunswick St. Baptist Church, 161 York St., Fredericton on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 12 Noon until service time at 2:00 PM. Rev. Greg Geldart will officiate with interment in the Forest Hill Cemetery immediately following the service. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Brunswick St. Baptist Church Building Fund or to a charity of the donor’s choice. A Royal Canadian Legion Tribute service will be held at the church on Wednesday, August 7 at 2:00 PM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bishop’s Funeral Home (458-1885).
