Donna Deyoung

DEYOUNG, DONNA - Donna (Linihan, Rodgers) Deyoung, age 75, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2013 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII, with her family by her side. Born in Dartmouth on February 6, 1938. She was the eldest daughter of the late Dennis and Dorothy Rodgers. Donna is survived by her husband Edwin, and children Sharon (Brett) Robertson, Susan (David) Buchanan, Shelly (Glenn) Furze, Tom (Donna) Linihan, and step children Michael (Charmaine) Deyoung, Betty Deyoung (David), Danny (Teresina) Deyoung, Patsy (Bill) Darroch, and her siblings Dennis (Diane) Rodgers, Bonnie Boutilier, Dana (Cheryl) Rodgers, and John (Donna) Rodgers. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and step grandchildren and three great grand-children. Donna was a member of St Andrews Parish. In her early years she was an active paddler at the Mic Mac Canoe Club. She was a graduate of the Ladies Business College. Donna retired after 25 years from Family Support Services NB. She volunteered with many community services in both Moncton and Eastern Passage. She was highly involved with Headstart, Eastern Passage Cow Bay Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary, Terry Fox Run and many others. One of her favourite past times was spending time with her family at her cottage in Linden, NS. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, John (Jack) Linihan, her sister Denise Moore, and brother in-laws Keith Moore and Alvin Boutilier.
Visitation will take place at Eastern Passage Community Funeral Home, 5 Cow Bay Rd on Wednesday from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. The celebration of Donna’s life will take place at St Andrews Parish, 1570 Shore Rd with Fr. Johni Mathew presiding on Friday at 10am with a reception to follow at the Eastern Passage Cow Bay Lions Club, 65 Hornes Rd. Interment at Mount Hermon following the reception. If you wish, donations can be made to the ALS Society and St Andrews Church Building Fund.
