WESTCOTT, CATHERINE R. - 1929 - 2013 - Miramichi – Catherine "Kay" Ruth Westcott, widow of the late Mel Westcott, of Miramichi and formerly of Black River Bridge, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at the age of 83. Born in Black River Bridge, on August 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Inez (MacDonald) MacDougall. She was a homemaker and former employee of Canadian General Electric, while working in Toronto; a member of St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge; a former member of Session; a former church elder and member of the Board of Stewarts. She is survived by one daughter, Eleanor Westcott, (Glen MacMullin),of Ottawa, Ont.; three sisters in law, Blanche MacDougall, of Black River Bridge, Betty MacDougall, of Miramichi Bay and Mary MacDougall, of Saint John; one brother in law, Mark MacDonald, of Black River Bridge, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Meldon A. MacDougall; five sisters, Louise Keoughan, Rhoda MacDonald, Verne Horton, Stella Nevers, Iva Henderson; six brothers, Alex, Harold, George, Bud, Willard and Lawrence MacDougall. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service will be held from St. Stephen’s United Church, Black River Bridge, on Monday, August 12th, 2013, at 2 pm, conducted by Penny Postlethwaite. Interment will be in the Black River Community Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Black River Cemetery Fund, St. Stephen’s United Church, or any charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated by the family.
