Linda Martin (nee Wentzell)
It is with saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of a precious wife and mother at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s after a battle with cancer that was fought with tremendous faith and humor. Predeceased by her parents Selina and Angus Wentzell. Leaving to mourn her loving husband, Willis; dearest daughters: Lisa and Vickie (chosen son, Paul Bell). Also left behind, beloved sisters: Hughena (Bill) Luther, Ula (Gerald, deceased) Byrne, Sylvia (Donald) Thistle, Mona (Jack) Hollands. Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law: Shirley (Ed) Bailey, Hilda (Rick) Decker, Eileen (Ralph, deceased) Golema and brother-in-law, Charles (Theresa); as well as nieces and nephews: Paula, Wendy, Michael Luther; Stephen, Derek, Gerry Byrne; Christine, Donna, Kim Thistle; Paul, Debbie, Liz, David Hollands; Sharon, Sheila, Shelley Bailey; Cheryl, Sandra, Jackie, Monique Decker, Ann, Karen Golema; Wanda, Debbie, Craig Martin. Also remembered, extended relatives Sim and Maxine and Madeline (Angus, deceased) Wentzell as well as 29 great-grand nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and other members of our extended family as well as a large circle of precious friends both near and far especially spiritual adviser Reverend Canon Jim Coffin. Thanks to Reverend Canon David Pilling for his unwavering support. Linda will be remembered for her kindness and generosity to all. She also has touched many hearts over the years and continued to do so throughout her illness. She was a devoted volunteer, especially for her efforts at the Hoyle’s Home, Girl Guides and PTA. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday, August 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (NL), the NL Lung Association or the Iris Kirby House. No words can describe the family’s tremendous appreciation of the staff at the Health Sciences Center 4NA and the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center who helped her maintain a wonderful attitude and guided her on what she called “a beautiful journey”. A special thanks is extended to Dr. S. Rorke, Dr. E. Powell and Dr. J.
