Norman Goble

GOBLE, Dr. NORMAN - (1923 - 2013) - Dr. Norman Goble, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday, August 10, 2013 after a sudden illness (heart attack). Born in Tynron, Scotland, he was the son of the late Wallace and Sara (MacLeod) Goble. Following his career as an educator, Norman became Director General of the Canadian Teachers Federation based in Ottawa, ON and later Director General of the World Confederation of Organizations of the Teaching Profession, based in Switzerland. In recognition for his outstanding services to the teaching profession, at the inter-provincial, national and international levels, he earned an Honorary Doctorate in Law from the University of New Brunswick and was promoted Officer of the Order of Canada for his contribution to education in third world countries. He was also very proud to be a veteran of the Second World War, serving as an officer with the British army. Norman will be missed by his wife, Maria (LeBlanc) Goble; his son, Michael (Carol) of Newmarket, ON and his two granddaughters, Sandra and Sarah. He will also be missed by his stepdaughters, Monique Richard (Jean-Marc Arseneau) and Christine Richard (Gilles Ratté), both of Moncton, and his three step granddaughters and step grandson; several nieces and nephews. Norman was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, David; three sisters and one brother.
It was Norman’s wish not to have a funeral service or ceremony. Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) in care of arrangements.
