Paulette Cassidy

Born: September 13th, 1945

Passed in: North Sydney
Passed on: August 19th, 2013

It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of our beloved sister, Polly Cassidy of Florence on Aug. 19, 2013, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born Sept. 13, 1945, she was a daughter of the late George and Kaye Mansfield of Florence.
Polly worked for many years at the Northside General Hospital as a switchboard operator in the admittance department. She was highly regarded by her co-workers and friends as a humble, kindly soul with a playful wit, integrity, shining spirit and no nonsense attitude when it came to her work.
Polly passed on this work ethic to many she had trained over the years, who still remain faithful friends to this day; to know her was to love her. She so enjoyed talking to her phone friends while taping her favourite shows to watch after midnight.
Polly leaves behind to mourn sisters, her true friend and twin, Pammie (Herb) Pye, Florence, Lynn (Brian) Dunn, Kamloops, B.C., Kaye (Ken) Lewis, Coxheath, and Holly Ann, Breton Ability Centre; brothers, Leckie (Del), Fall River, Brady, Kamloops, B.C., and Danny, Newfoundland. As well as mother-in-law, Mary Cassidy; sister-in-law, Cathy Fudge; brother-in-law, Bobby Cassidy; loving aunt and uncle, Shirley and Bernie Tobin, aunt, Gwen Tobin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by husband, Charlie, sister, Jackie, brother, Nickie and grandparents, Nick and Annie Tobin of Florence.
On behalf of the family we would like to thank her “angel” friend, Nancy Devoe, Lisa Confiant and Kevin Tobin for the years of unconditional love you have shown our sister. Thank you to sister-in-law, Sylvia Mansfield, for accompanying Polly to her many appointments. Many thanks to the nursing staff of the Cape Breton cancer unit, for your compassionate care. Special thanks to the nursing staff of the Northside General Hospital, 4th Floor, for your exceptional care and the compassion shown to Polly’s family. You will never be forgotten. Thanks to Dr. John Ritter, Kathy MacMullin and Diane McInnis of Palliative Care for your unending devotion. Dr. Micheal and Louise McKeough, how can this family ever thank you both. We are so grateful that Polly had your professional care and friendship over the years. Thank you Dr. Doug Kohlsmith for providing Polly with your gentle and kind compassion.
In keeping with Polly's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home, Sydney
Mines.
Donations in Polly's memory may be made to her favourite charity, the Cape Breton Patient Care Fund.
