It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Annemarie, on August 16, 2013 at the age of 86, after 3 months of illness. She was predeceased by Erhardt, her husband of 59 years. Her 3 sons survive her: Horst (Shirley) Baender – Moose Jaw, Rolf (Gerri) Bander – Brooks, AB, Claus (Cathi) Baender – Saskatoon; plus grandchildren: Chris Baender – Houston, TX, Monica (Brent) Fitzmaurice – Calgary, AB, Martin (Kameko) Baender – Banff, AB, Justin Bander, Sylvan Lake, AB, Shayla (David) Mellott – Calgary, AB, Jeffry Baender – Nanaimo, BC, Darren (Beth) Baender – Regina; 4 step-grandchildren: Joanne, Sherry, Leslee, and James; plus 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and a sister-in-law in Germany. Annemarie was born and married in Germany. She and her husband and 2 children immigrated to Canada in 1954, and by 1955 added another son. They built a thriving greenhouse business just east of the airbase, and did not retire until 2000. She enjoyed her years of retirement greatly, and filled her time with family, friends, baking, reading, and doing miles of crochet and knitting. For the past 4 ½ years she resided at Chateau St. Michael private care home. Her family would like to thank Dr. Marx, and the staff at the Chateau, MJ Union Hospital, and the Foyer d’Youville in Gravelbourg for their dedicated, loving care during her illness and passing. Cremation has taken place, and a Graveside Service will be held at Rosedale Cemetery, Saturday August 24, 2013 at 11:15 am. Reverend Doug Shepherd will officiate. For those wishing to attend, please meet at the Cemetery gates at 11:00 am. A lunchtime social will be held at Jones Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St.E., at 12:00 pm. In Annemarie’s memory, friends are asked to make donations to the charity of their choice. In living memory of Annemarie, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son FuneralHome.
