Eleanor Burnett
BURNETT, ELEANOR MYRTLE - (1926 - 2013) - Mrs. Eleanor M. Burnett went to her heavenly home, at age 86, finally ending her struggle with MS, with her daughters by her side on August 21, 2013 at the Grand Manan Nursing Home. Born on Grand Manan Island, she was the daughter of the late Emerson and Royal (Green) Young. She attended the Grand Harbour Baptist Church in her youth. Following her graduation from the Grand Harbour School she went to Business College in Saint John, and then she worked in the Accounting Department of Manchester’s Robertson and Allison Ltd, Saint John, NB in 1945. She will be remembered most for her devotion to her Husband Norman, always fulfilling the role of a minister’s wife while raising her three daughters who will always love her dearly. Also she was a member of the Grace Presbyterian Church, Saint John, NB. She is survived by her three daughters; Sharron Guptill (Murray) of Grand Harbour, Pamela Ferguson (Robert) Burlington, ON, Deborah Burke (Robert) Halifax, NS; one brother Clyde Young, Grand Manan; five grandchildren; Dennis Guptill (Louise), Ward Guptill (Elaine), Jason Burke (Natalie), Jilaine Ferguson-Gate (Steve), Amanda Ferguson-Rogers (Chris), eight great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Reverend Norman Burnett, grandson Galand Guptill, as well as her parents Emerson and Royal.
Visiting will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM at the Community Life Church (formerly the Grand Harbour Baptist Church), Grand Harbour. The funeral service will take place from the Church on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 9:30 am with Dr. Reverend Jeff Benson officiating. The interment will follow later on Friday at the St. Martin’s Community Cemetery, St. Martin’s, NB and facilitated through Brenan’s Funeral Home, Saint John. Eleanor’s family has requested that donations may be made to the New Grand Manan Nursing Home, or the MS Society in lieu of flowers. The family wishes to express their appreciation to Heather Bass and all the staff at the Grand Manan Nursing Home for their constant devotion, loving care and support to Eleanor and her family.
