Glyn passed away August 20, 2013. He was born in Swift Current on March 4, 1931. His parents lived near Beverly, SK and in 1932 they moved to the “Eight Mile Lake” District near Battleford, SK. In 1944 the family again moved to the Gilroy, Lawson Districts of Saskatchewan. Glyn received his education in Eight Mile Lake, Battleford Central, Gilroys Rose Mount and Lawson schools. Glyn farmed with his brothers in the Lawson area until 1972 when they sold the farm. Glyn then moved to Moose Jaw, SK. He was involved in the Lawson, Riverhurst, Central Butte areas as farmer, telephone line man, curling, church, etc. He was Reeve of Maple Bush Rural Municipality 1970 – 1972. Glyn Joined the Lawson Odd Fellows Lodge, No. 146, in 1954 and joined the Lawson Rebekah Lodge No. 81 in 1965. He joined the Odd Fellows Encampment No. 2 and the Odd Fellows Patriarch Militant Canton No. 1, Regina in 1966. When the Lawson Odd Fellows disbanded in 1979 Glyn joined Odd Fellows Lodge, Valley No.1, Moose Jaw. He is life member of Valley No.1, Grand Master of Saskatchewan Odd Fellows Lodges in 1973-74, a Grand Patriarch of Sask., Odd Fellows Encampments in 1979-80, and Department Commander of Sask. Odd Fellows Patriarchal Militants Cantons in 1982–84. He was also the Grand Scribe of the Odd Fellows Patriarch Lodge from 1981-94. He received the Grand Decoration of chivalry in 1990. Glyn was a member of Trinity United Church serving as a board member and treasurer. He was treasurer of the Trinity-Grandview Pastoral charge, and was treasurer for the Moose Jaw Presbytery of the United Church of Canada. At one time he was Executive Secretary for the Moose Jaw Volunteer Bureau and later as a Volunteer Driver. He was also at one time the Executive Secretary of the Moose Jaw United Way. He worked for the Moose Jaw Credit Union for several years until resigning due to illness. Glyn married Pearl Finlay in 1974. Pearl and Glyn loved travelling, especially with their motor home and travelled over most of North America. Glyn was predeceased by his parents Walter John in 1954 and Florence Mae in 1961and his wife Pearl. He is survived by his step-son Robert Finlay of Cardross, SK; step-daughter Beth Finlay and family of Moose Jaw; three brothers Walter (Donna) of Kelowna, BC, Douglas (Esther) of Victoria, BC and David (Lois) of Calgary , AB; four grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and great-nephews. A Graveside Service will take place at a later date. In living memory of Glyn, a memorial planting will be made by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
