Of Cambridge, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 following a brave and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at the age of 72. Born August 31, 1941, he was a proud Newfoundlander for 55 years. A wonderful father to Michelle (Danny), Carolann (Eric), Iris (Jonathan) and Christina (Dean). A supportive partner to Joan Hewitt and her family; Rick (Terri), Brittany, Eric, and Scott. A loving Poppy to Zack, Mariah, Haley, Brady, Ethan, Garrett, Denise, and Danielle. A caring brother to Marie, William, Bernadette, Bernice, Ronald, Margaret and Brian. Predeceased by brothers Douglas and Dermott, and parents Mary and William Lake. He loved to help others through his volunteering with the Out of the Cold program, and marshalling at the Victoria West golf course. He enjoyed his golf, woodworking, camping, playing pool and painting with Joan. He touched the heart of anyone who was lucky enough to know him, and will be greatly missed. A church service will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 210 South St., Cambridge on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at 11 a.m. A celebration of his life will follow at John Bayus Trailer Park, 1429 Sheffield Rd., Cambridge.
