It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Helen (Capstick) Serroul, 72, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Racheal (Donovan) Capstick.
Left to mourn her passing is her passing is her husband and soulmate, Gerald Serroul and sister Nina Thomas both of Sydney Mines; her grandchildren to whom she dedicated her life, Crystal (Troy) Carroll, Sydney Mines, Lisa Capstick (Phillip), North Sydney, and Destiny Rose Capstick, Oshawa, Ont.; her beloved great-grandchildren, Bryleigh and Mason Carroll, Sydney Mines and Allan Skinner, North Sydney were the light of her life. Also left to mourn are her best friend Hazel (Thomas) Williams, Sydney Mines; special niece, Janie (Frank) MacPhail, Baddeck, as well as numerous
friends, nieces, nephews, cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Lawrence Thomas Capstick, sisters, Kay Gillis, Janie Roberts, Margaret Morgan, Marybell MacLennan and Della Loder, brothers, Peter, Patrick and Murdock Capstick.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held today, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish (formerly St. Pius X Church), with Fr. J.J. MacDonald officiating. Burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Shore Road, Sydney Mines.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
