The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, of Velda Rose Harris (nee Arsenault) of Chelton, aged 72 years. Velda was born on May 8, 1941, in Lower Bedeque, to her late parents Hubert and Agnes (nee Gallant) Arsenault. Beloved wife of the late Wensel Harris and loving mother of Kim (Scott) Jay, Michael (Kelly), Wensel (Janice), Krista (Spencer) Millman, Kent (Melissa) and Nicholas (Marilyn). Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Sarah, Kristopher and John Patrick Jay, Justin, Megan and Kayla Harris, Samantha, Lucas Harris and their mother Leann, Dylan and Molly Millman, Riley and Dryden Harris, Sadie Harris and her great-granddaughter Amelia. Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Betty, Shirley, Ruby, Nancy, Doug, David, Judy, Sally, Blair, Debbie and Rodney. Besides her parents and husband, Velda was predeceased by her brothers Harvey, Bobby, Lorne, Ralph and Leroy in infancy. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Friday, Aug. 30, then to St. Peter’s Church, Seven Mile Bay, for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Donations in Velda’s memory to P.E.I. Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours at the church on Friday morning only from 9 a.m. until time of funeral mass.
