With sadness, the family of Allan Francis MacDonald announce his passing in his 86th year, on Sept. 6, 2013, at the R. C. MacGillivray Guest Home in Sydney.
Allan was a lifelong resident of Sydney. A graduate of Sydney Academy, he worked at Sysco until his retirement, was a member of Sacred Heart parish and an ardent follower of the financial world.
Allan was born in Sydney, the son of the late Angus Charles and Mary (MacIntyre) MacDonald.
He is survived by his sisters, Marie Cipriani, Milford, Mass., and Lorraine MacDonald, Sydney; his brother Rev. Dr. Roderick B. MacDonald, Antigonish, and his brother and sister-in-law, John and Anne MacDonald, New Glasgow. He is also survived by his nephew, Paul (Marilyn) MacDonald and children, Alexandra and Isaac; nieces, Karen (Herbert) Cares, children, Marc and Paul DePetrio, Mary MacDonald (David McGreer), children, Kathleen, Maura and Matthew McGreer, Carmel (Ken) Scott, children, Beth, Mary and Margaret Scott.
He was predeceased by his brother, Angus, nephew, Andrew MacDonald and brother-in-law, Tony Cipriani.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Sacred Heart Church. Rev. Bill Burke will officiate.
