Margaret MacEachern Frampton

Word has been received by Mrs. Roland MacEachern, Charlottetown, of the death of her sister-in-law (Lt.) Nursing Sister Margaret MacEachern Frampton, London, ON.
One of the few remaining Nursing Sisters of the Second World War. She survived the sinking of the hospital ship “Santa Elena” on the night of November 6, 1943, after being hit by a German torpedo in the Mediterranean. Another Islander on a ship that picked them up that night was Cpl. Dan MacDonald (later minister of Veterans Affairs).
Margaret is survived by son, William Frampton, and two grandchildren, Lily and Thomas, all of London, ON. Beloved sister of Gillian Skillicorn of Belleville, ON. Predeceased by her husband, Fred Frampton; parents, Fire Chief Angus and Mrs. Helen MacEachern; sisters, Kaye MacEachern, RN; Mrs. Janet MacLean; brothers, Bud, Donald, Roland and David.
Following tradition three brothers were also in the military in the Second World War.
Margaret’s memorial and committal service were held in London, ON.
