Mrs. Ruby Mercer of Upper Island Cove passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, September 7, 2013. Mrs. Mercer was 73 years old. She leaves to mourn her loving family: Husband Harry Mercer, Daughters Marlene (Keith) Parsons and Peggy (Ron) Blair, Grandchildren Lori (Irving) Parsons, Peggy (Robert) Starkes, Judson Parsons, Ryan Blair and Nikita Blair, Great Grandchildren Maxwell Parsons and Rachel Ruby Starkes, Brother Azariah (Mildred) Coombs and Sister Sadie Young. Predeceased by: Parents John and Ida Coombs, Sisters Susie (Bill) Miller and Bertha (Ray) Lundrigan, Brother-in-Law Thomas Young. The funeral service took place at St. Peter's Anglican Church and Cemetery, Upper Island Cove on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 2 p.m. The family received relatives and friends at Slade's Funeral Home, Cranes Road, Upper Island Cove.
