Ida McGeary

Passed on: September 13th, 2013

It is with great sadness that the family of Ida McGeary announce her passing at Luther Care Home on Friday, September 13. She will be forever remembered by her only child, Lori (Kerry Tarasoff) and her ever treasured grandchildren Lauren and Jordan. She is also survived by her brother Bob Oscar, special niece Bev and nephew Terry. Ida was predeceased by her husband Terry in 1993, her sister Mae Gamble, brother Kelly Oscar, and her parents Albert and Annie. Ida was born on December 28, 1925 and raised on a farm in Stewart Valley, then moved with her sister to Moose Jaw where she met and married her husband. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed curling and golfing. Ida was an active member of the sporting community where she served on the Board of the Moose Jaw Hillcrest Sports Center and the Saskatchewan Curling Association. She was honoured with life memberships from both organizations. After the death of her husband, Ida moved to Saskatoon to be near her family. Mom will always be remembered for the love she had for her grandchildren which included daily trips to Tim Hortons, helping out at school, watching Lauren dance, and attending Jordan’s sporting events. Special thanks to Dr. Spelay and all of the wonderful staff at Luther Care Home for mom’s exceptional care. A private family service will be held in Moose Jaw. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Luther Care Foundation (1212 Osler Street, Saskatoon, S7N 0T9).
