Joy Mitchell

Joy passed away at Moose Jaw Extendicare at the age of 95. She was born at Readlyn, SK to Jenny and Fred Thomann, the eldest of six children. In 1936 she married Clarence Mitchell and they farmed in the Galilee and Mitchellton districts. Together they raised seven children. Mom remained on the farm after Dad’s passing in 1994, moving to Moose Jaw in 2001 becoming a resident of Temple Towers. Mom loved to sew, quilt and garden and she became an active member of The Prairie Hearts Quilter’s Guild and The Yara Community Gardens. Predeceased by her parents, step-dad, Jack Priestly; sisters Roxy (Hector) Martin, Beth (Lorne) Fitzharris, June (Bill) Radcliffe, Norma (Howie) Eastwood; granddaughter Michelle and great-granddaughters Savannah and Eleanor. She leaves to mourn one brother Herb (Grace) Priestly; children Marilyn (Bob) Eyre, Bob (Carol) Mitchell, Dale (Evelyn) Mitchell, Sharon (Andy) Delorey, Dolores (Norbert) Beaujot, Deb (Jim) Sandbeck, and Kelly (Brian) McCargar; nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Celebration of Joy’s life will be held at W.J. Jones & Son Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., on Friday September 20, 2013 at 1:30PM. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery. Memorials donations to Yara Community Gardens, 269 Stadacona St. W., Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 1Z4, would be appreciated.
