WILCOX, Alice Keith
With sadness we say goodbye to Alice, a beautiful mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt & special lady to all those who had known her. Alice passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the age of 80 years, after a short but brave battle with cancer. Alice (“Sapphire”) met the love of her life Donald while working at Peoples Jewellers in Regina. They married on August 9, 1954 and spent the next 44 years together making Swift Current their home, raising 2 children, travelling, camping and enjoying the company of a large circle of friends throughout their life time. Alice was a very strong woman who lived her life to the fullest with style, a driven personality & a great sense of humour. She loved to work in her garden, mow her lawn & share more than a few laughs with her neighbours. Her driveway & sidewalk were always meticulously shoveled & “swept”. She was passionate about football “GO RIDERS GO” and enjoyed mastering a few puzzles while watching curling in “her chair”. Aside from looking after her home, she volunteered herself for friends & various organizations in the community, she gathered with a group of special ladies for many occasions such as weekly coffee with the “Lotto chicks”, birthday lunches throughout the year & for over 25 years a small group of “outstanding S.C. ladies” took turns in hosting an annual gift exchange Christmas party. In the words of those who knew her well and who have responded to her passing she was “organized”, “talented”, “creative", “vibrant”, “witty”, “spunky”, ”helpful”, "an inspiration", "a trooper", “a precious lady”, “a special friend" & “a truly great lady". Alice will truly be missed by her neighbours, all of her many, many friends and forever loved, missed & remembered by her daughter Shannon (John) McCormack, grandchildren Keesha (Curtis) Majeran, Cody, Tasha and Mikala McCormack, Brandy (Richard) Grantham, Derek Wilcox, Jesse (Kimberly) Wilcox; great grandchildren, Sam & Avery Alice Majeran, Joshua & Ian Grantham, Darian, Amber & Mackenzie Wilcox as well as many nieces and nephews. Alice was predeceased by her husband Donald on December 1, 1998, her son Graham on April 10, 1982, her parents William (Bill) & Catherine Murrison, her sisters Isabell, Kay, Irene, Etta & only brother Jim. Many thanks to the neighbours & friends that supported mom while she was in Alberta taking her cancer treatments by watching over her home, mowing her grass, planting flowers & a huge garden in her yard, calling & sending cards of encouragement. A special thank you to Richard for all you have done for my mom over the years. She loved you all & our family could not have done it without all of you! Mom requested there be no funeral services. A come & go memorial to celebrate her life was held at the Swift Current Shrine Club for family & close friends on September 7, 2013.
