HOWES, GORDON D. - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Douglas Howes, our beloved husband, father and grandfather on September 24, 2013. Gordon was the son of the late Douglas James and Emily (Davis) Howes. He was born on Nov. 17, 1926 in Saint John, NB. He is survived by his loving wife, Agnes (Wallace) Howes; his children, Chris (Lynn), Janice and Karen (David); grandchildren, Shelley, Stephanie (Francois), Jeremy, Kristen and Emily; great grandchildren, Rylan, Samuel and Annabelle; many nieces and nephews. Gordon worked as a Marketing Representative for Canadian General Electric in the Atlantic Region, retiring in 1988. He was devoted to his family, was warm, caring and gregarious, with a wonderful sense of humour. He enjoyed golf, soft ball, bowling, and curling. He was an avid reader who loved history and music. He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Howes; sisters, Audrey Purdy, Marguerite MacAlpine. Gordon will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 1st at 3:30 p.m. at Woodlawn United Church, Dartmouth, Rev. Valerie Kennedy officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Nova Scotia Lung Association.
