He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Irene Lemieux, daughter Lise Lemieux, sister Elaine Bolder and brother-in-law John Bolder. Dick was born in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Irene Lemieux, the second of six children. He grew up in Dollard until they moved to Ponteix in 1948 when his dad Joseph bought a hardware store. After high school, Dick was a surveyor in northern Saskatchewan. From there, he began his career in the hardware business and he continued in this field until the store closed in the late 90's. Once the hardware store was established, Dick, his brother Ernie and their father Joe purchased the funeral home and the Ponteix Hotel. The town was in need of an ambulance service so Dick and Ernie decided to start one in Ponteix. They successfully ran the ambulance until 1993 with Dick's son Richard helping out. Over the years, Dick was actively involved in the Liberal party, Lion's Club, Town Council, served two terms as mayor for the town of Ponteix and was a representative for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. His many interests included golfing, hockey, bowling, baseball, curling, history, music and travelling. Dick and Cecile were fortunate to travel to many different countries including Czechoslavakia, Canary Islands and Jamaica due to exceeding appliance sales expectations. Dick was very proud to be the driving force in creating the "Mo" landmark, which was erected at the turn into town welcoming all visitors to Ponteix. Once Dick retired, he spent his time doing hobbies such as reading, building birdhouses and doing crossword puzzles; as well as countless hours spent tinkering in his garage. Dick loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He will be lovingly remembered for his endless jokes; there was never a dull moment with Dick in the room. In his memory, memorial donations may be made to Bridges Personal Care Home. Lemieux Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
