HICKS, RONALD - Ronald Austin Hicks, 88, of Wards Creek, passed away on October 1, 2013 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Hicksville, NB, he was a son of the late Charles and Iva (nee Cochrane) Hicks. Ronald was employed for many years with the Department of Health. A self-taught carpenter, he spent his retirement years in the workshop. Ronald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Hicks (nee Thorne); his three children: Susan Hicks-Canrinus (Albert) of Wards Creek, Dawn Hicks-Milley (Douglas) of Winnipeg, and Errol Hicks (Kim) of Woodstock; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; as well as by many other extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Ronald was predeceased by his brothers: Wiley and Frank; and his sisters: Willa Friars and Ann Hicks.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm; the funeral service will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 2:30 pm, all in the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex. Interment will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery. Donations to the ALS Society of Canada or the Moncton Congregational Church would be appreciated by the family.
