Margaret (Maggie) Mary Hutchings Margaret (Maggie) Mary Hutchings

January 20, 1920-September 22, 2013
After a fall at home, Maggie died peacefully in hospital on Sunday, September 22, 2013. Although she would never admit it, she was 93.
Despite being in the hospital, she spent the week flirting with the doctors and talking with her daughter, Marilyn, about beaches, fishing and eating lobster. Her blue eyes still twinkled until the end, and she will be missed by all who met her and were touched by her natural friendliness. She loved being on the go every single day, especially to Bingo.
Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. in 1920, Maggie moved to Halifax when she was 17 living there until she and Bob retired and the kids had graduated from university. Then in 1973, they were off to beautiful BC (BBC), first to Richmond and later to French Creek since 1983.
Maggie was predeceased by her father, Joseph A.; mother, Margaret (Gallant); husband, Robert S.; son, William D. (Bill); and she is the last of her 13 Shelfoon brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughter, Marilyn, who has lived with her since 2001; and son, Robert B. (Monika Boos) of Montreal.
Cremation has taken place at Yates Funeral Chapel in Parksville. A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at the Church of the Ascension, in Parksville, BC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Maggie’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Donations Department, 1212 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC, V6H 3V2.
