It is with deep sadness that we must announce the sudden passing of Helen Tower, age 70, of River Hebert. Helen passed away at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Thursday, October 3, 2013 with her family by her side.
Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late Garfield and Mable (Gower) Hoeg.
Helen was a very dedicated homemaker. Family was everything to her, as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and soon to be great grandmother, she cared for all around her in every way she could. She enjoyed Sunday drives with her husband Mel looking for deer, and enjoyed sitting on the deck chatting with her neighbours over a cup of tea. Helen was a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs fan and enjoyed watching them win their first game of this season.
She will be ever remember and sadly missed by 2 daughters, Loretta (Wayne) and Darlene (Melvin); 3 granddaughters, Stephanie (Linton), Megan (Chris) and Mikaela; 2 sisters Muriel Campbell and Reta Gould; 3 sisters in law Pearl, Marlene, and Dorothy.
She was predeceased by her dear husband Mel; 3 brothers Aubrey, Lloyd and Garfie.
Helen's remains have been cremated under the care and direction of the Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst (902-667-8777). A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 2 pm. Family and friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Memorial donations in Helen's memory gratefully accepted to a charity of the donor's choice.
