AREY, Ernest Leaman, 80, formerly of Upper Port La Tour, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Roseway Manor, Shelburne after a brief illness. Born in Slate Town on May 26, 1933 he was the son of Walter and Stella (Purdy) Arey. Ernie worked for Aberdeen Construction and with the Arey’s fish business. Ernie enjoyed many years of his own business “Ernie’s Seafood Take Out and Grocery”. In Ernie’s earlier years he loved to go dancing. He is survived by his companion Pat Smith; his brother, Everett Arey; son, Gary Newell; sister-in-law, Ethel; nephew, Dougie Arey; nieces, Mary Reynolds, Diane Collings; nephew, Eugene and Mary Arey and families; also many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Arthur Arey, Gorden Arey, Charles Arey in infancy; niece, Margaret (Arey) Smith; and nephew Reggie Arey. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkdale Cemetery, Upper Port La Tour.
