Melissa Phillipo, 93, of Westmount, Cape Breton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, with her family by her side.
Born at Isle Aux Morte, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Wells.
She was a former member of St. Aidan's Anglican Church, Westmount.
Leasie was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she always put her family first. She spent many days at the sewing machine sewing for her daughters. This was her passion.
She was predeceased by her husband, Andrew in 1998 and also by her daughter, Nancy in infancy.
She will be dearly missed by her sons, Donald (Peggy), Westmount, Kennie (Martina), Toronto; daughters, Mrs. Dolores Campbell, Toronto, Bonnie (Ralph) Leon, Mississauga, Denise (Kevin) Andrea, Dartmouth, and Betty Lou (Brian) Cann, Dartmouth, and by 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation for the late Mrs. Phillipo will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013, at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday in Church of Christ the King (formerly Christ Church) with Rev. Laura McCue officiating followed by interment in St. Mark's Cemetery, Coxheath.
