It is with our deepest regrets that we announce the passing of Claudia Ruth (Slade) Monks, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who passed away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, October 19, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Kevin and son William Kevin. Leaving to mourn, three daughters: Terri (Allan) Pelan, Eden Mills, Ontario, Eileen Monks, Oakville, Ontario and Jackie Murphy (John) Dinn, Salmon Cove; grandchildren: Jessica, Will (Stacie), Stephanie (Aaron) and Sarah (Brian); great-granddaughter: Abigaile and family dog: Harley. Also leaving to mourn are brother: John (Gladys) Slade and family, Victoria; brothers-in-law: Howard (Carol) Slade and family, Salmon Cove and Reinhard Sett and family, Ontario; sister-in-law: Dorothy ‘Dot’ Slade and family, Ontario and a large circle of friends. At Claudia’s request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life service to take place on Wednesday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Claudia’s residence, 3 Riverside Drive, Salmon Cove. A private inurnment to be held at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, St. John's.
