Shirley Rydholm nee Pentz passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Hanover & District Hospital at the age of 90. Formerly of Fort William (Thunder Bay), St. Catharines and Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Shirley is survived by her son David of Port Hope and daughter Lin Kennedy (Ron) of Durham. She is also survived by her sister Doris Pearson of Truro, Nova Scotia, grandsons Christopher (Beth) and Geoffrey Kennedy and great granddaughters Kaia and Persephone of Iqaluit. She was predeceased by brothers Earl and Russell Pentz. A retired nurse at the former St. Catharines General Hospital and life long member of the Eastern Star, Shirley will be cremated in Durham, Ontario. Internment will follow at the Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill, Ontario. In memory of her, if desired, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Hanover Care Centre for their compassion and excellent care while Shirley was in their care.
