It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, Dad and Poppy, Ivan George Lewis, son of Rodger and Edith (Shaw) Lewis of Edwardsville on Oct. 22, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Survived by his wife, Christina (MacEachern); four sons, Everett (Linda), Edmonton, Alta. Ross (Cheryl) Prime Brook, N.S., Craig (Marie), Sydney, Mark (Karen), Elmsdale, N.S.; daughter, Lisa MacDougall (Leo),
Hammonds Plains, N.S.; brother, Chester (Lucy), Courtenay, B.C.; sister, Florence Giroux Westmount; 10 grandchildren and many extended loving family members.
Ivan was a man of strong convictions and beliefs. He was very proud of his family. He loved the simple things in life like fishing and driving the back country roads of Cape Breton.
A retired member of local 752 Iron Workers, Ivan often told stories of his work across Canada from Newfoundland to British Columbia. After retirement, Ivan spent many hours in the woods of his back property, cutting wood with his son, Craig, followed closely by his golden retriever, Trixie.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held today (Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Memorial service will be 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Donations to the Canadian Council of the Blind or charity of choice.
The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their professional and compassionate care. Special thanks to Dr. McGory, Dr. Brake and Dr. Murdock Smith.
