SONJA MARSHALL

MARSHALL, Sonja Mauree

It is with utter sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sonja Mauree Marshall on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, AB at the age of 72.
She was born in Flin Flon, MB in 1940 to Doreen and Ben Berg. She graduated school at Prince Albert Collegiate Institute (in SK) where she was valedictorian and later attended a business finishing school. Soon thereafter, Sonja married Dale Marshall in Saskatoon, SK, a marriage that lasted 43 years.

During her life, Sonja worked in a wide variety of occupations such as telephone operator, bookkeeper for the family business, secretary for numerous firms, an airport security guard, and mostly recently completing more than 20 years of service working for FedEx.

She enjoyed activities such as gardening, painting, skiing, snowmobiling, and watching her favorite TV show Seinfeld. Sonja is also known for her quick sense of humor and fun loving ways. But she is probably most known for her love of animals, especially her cats Joe and Mary.

Sonja is survived by her two sons Dean (Karie), Wade (Ina) and daughter Lisa (Brad), as well as granddaughters Iona, Hailey, and Leah. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Carol Berg and Pearl Berg, as well as nephews Curtis Ouellette (Sharon), Blair Ouellette, Daryl Berg, and Chad (Michael) Leier-Berg. As well, she is survived by nieces Dana Bayda (Michael), Colette Berg, Lyndsay Berg, and Casie Berg.

Sonja is predeceased by her husband Dale (2007), brothers Bryan Berg (2009) and Bernie Berg (2011), sister Darlene Ouellette (1986), mother Doreen Berg (1999), father Ben Berg (1985), and niece Chelsea Lee Berg (1982).

Memorial Service will be held for Sonja on Saturday, November 2nd at 1pm at the First Memorial - Harmony Chapel, 10541 - 81 Avenue, Edmonton.
