NELSON, EILEEN - 1916 - 2013 - Eileen Nelson, 97, of Forest Dale Home, formerly of Edgett’s Landing and the Legion Street apartments in Hillsborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Forest Dale Home with her cherished son and daughter-in-law, Cerdic and Sandra by her side. Eileen was born in Moncton on July 13th, 1916 the daughter of the late Hiram and Zora (Steeves) Smith. She was a member of the Valley Baptist Church. Eileen’s first priority in her life was her family. She loved them all very much and always made sure they were looked after. She was a great cook and was known for her fudge. In her younger years she enjoyed camping and gardening especially growing her African Violets. She also had a special place in her heart for dogs, having had many over the years and also whenever people took dogs to the nursing home she was the first in line to see them. Eileen was a great lady and was known as the “Greeter” at Forest Dale Home in the old building. Not a day passed that she wasn’t greeting everyone that came through the door with a little smile and soft hello. She felt blessed to have her family so close and looked forward to and treasured the many visits they made. Her face would light up whenever her grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit. She will also be remembered for her great sense of humour, she loved to laugh. Eileen has left her family a great legacy and has now gone to be with her Lord and Saviour. “In God’s holy keeping.” She will be deeply missed by her son, Cerdic Nelson (Sandra) of Riverside-Albert; grandchildren, Brian (Sandy), Brent (Kelly), Wendy, Gordon, Eric; great grandchildren, Mitchell (Char), Josh, Marcy (Adam), Courtney (Kristen), Matthew, Emma, Tyler (Chelsea), Derrick, Patrick, Josh, Jamey, Alex, Christopher, Ocean and Breeze. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Eileen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Warren; daughter, Doreen Parker (Donald); grandson, Carl; sisters, Bernice, Beatrice, Viola; brothers, Frank, Robert, Roscoe, George; half-sisters, Beulah, June and Iris; half-brother, Harry; step-sisters, Della, Kathleen, Hettie, Mary; step-brother, Hedley.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 5th, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. The family will be meeting with relatives and friends following the service at the funeral home for further sharing of memories and for refreshments. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lower Cape, NB. Donations to the Forest Dale Home Auxiliary or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated.
