Arnold Birch Nisbet died peacefully, Sunday, November 3, 2013, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, after a brief illness. He was born in Tyne Valley in 1925 to the late Thomas and Lucy (Birch) Nisbet. After the death of his father in 1960, Arnold and his mother ran the general store in Tyne Valley until 1962, when they moved to Toronto to join other family members. There he worked for various organizations including Stutley Moase Produce, Eric Ladner Menswear and Lake Simcoe Ice. Later he and his mother returned to Tyne Valley before moving to Fredericton, N.B., where he worked at the Fort Nashwaak Motel. Eventually, they moved to Summerside in 2001. Arnold was a quiet and gentle man who chose to live his life in close proximity to his family. Always sharp as a tack, he kept aware of local and national news and enjoyed reminiscing with family about old acquaintances and childhood friends. Arnold is survived by sisters Margaret Kennedy, Kensington; Helen MacKay, Holland Landing, ON; Betty (Jim) Nicholson, Fredericton, NB; Lucy (Stanley) Forbes Mission, BC; brother Ronald (Olga) Nisbet, Oakville, ON; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
