
Dr. Charles Joseph Hutton
Passed on: November 4th, 2013
(July 10, 1930 - November 4, 2013) Passed peacefully away surrounded by his children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters. Predeceased in 2009 by his wife Lillian Hutton (nee Snelgrove). Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of memories and a legacy of immense proportion, his children: Charlie (Jennifer Scott), Leslie (Rod Martin), Barbie, and Fred (Bonnie Hibbs, Benjamin and Jenna Davis). Adored by his grandchildren: Charles Hutton (Kristen DeRooy) and Chloe Hutton, Emily Martin (Andrew Squires) and Allison Martin (Brandon Butler), Douglas and Caroline Pippy, Matthew and Claire Hutton and great- grandson Jayden. Loved and admired by his brothers and sisters: Toni Gillett, Noel Hutton (Nalda), Ann Whooley, Hubert Hutton (Edwina), and Linda Byrne (Denis). A graduate of Dalhousie University medical school with a fellowship in pathology from Montreal Children’s Hospital. Chief of Pathology at the Janeway Child Health Centre for more than 20 years until taking over as Chief Medical Examiner with the Department of Justice, working 18 years beyond mandatory retirement and 5 weeks before his passing. A respected scholar, carpenter, avid golf fan, connoisseur of all music from opera to John Denver; a voracious reader with a remarkable, active mind, making plans until the end. A dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend; affectionate and fun-loving. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. We are forever grateful for the expert and compassionate care by Dr. Stewart Rorke, Dr. Teri Stuckless and the team at the Cancer Centre as well as the entire staff of Tiffany Village where our family spent our final weeks together. Cremation has taken place. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, November 7 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Friday, November 8 from 5 - 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Pius X, Smithville Crescent on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in his memory may be made to the Dr. H.
