Ethel Mary Reid, age 98 years, of Moose Jaw, passed away November 9, 2013 at the Swift Current Care Centre. Ethel was born October 31, 1915 at the family farm, Rosewood District, SK. She attended Rosewood and Lemberg schools and took Nursing at the Regina General Hospital (1938). She worked at the Ottawa Civic Hospital (1938-40), Central Butte Hospital (1940-42), and the Royal Canadian Army #8 Hospital (1942-45). She served in England, France, Holland, and Belgium, and upon her return at the Balcarres Hospital (1945-47 and 1962-64), Providence Hospital Moose Jaw (1964-1981). Ethel was a member of Trinity United Church, Council and the U.C.W., and was a life member of the Sask. Registered Nurses Association. She was a dedicated nurse, and loved her family and travelling. She married David Reid on December 13, 1947 and they raised three children. She is survived by her son Ken (Deb) Reid and his sons Michael (Brandi) Reid; Wes (Twylla) Reid; daughter Anne (Randy) Luehr and her children Cindy (David) Lauwen, and Brett Luehr; son Bruce (Laura) Reid and his children Jeremy (Megan) Reed, Erin (Richard) Cashin, Christopher (Dyan) Reid, David Reid, and Emily Reid; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Alice Jamieson, and seven nieces and nephews and their families who were a very large part of Ethel’s life. She is predeceased by husband David Reid in 1987, father Herbert Jamieson in 1945, mother Rose Jamieson in 1952, brother Keith Jamieson in 1959, sister Luta Burrows in 1979, brother-in-law Alex Burrows, and nephew Lyle Flavel. The Funeral Service will be held at Trinity United Church, 277 Iroquois St. W., Moose Jaw, on Friday November 15, 2013 at 11:30 am. Pastor Bill Thomson will officiate. Memorialization will take place at Regina Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations to Trinity United Church, or the Swift Current Care Centre Auxilliary, 700 Aberdeen St.W., Swift Current, would be appreciated.
