CHALMERS, T. SCOTT - Beloved husband of Margaret, father to Frederick Lorne (Mary), Greta Louise (Alan), David Gilchrist (deceased), Andrew Scott and Rebecca Anne (James McEwen), grandfather of Thomas Scott Chalmers (Chelsea Robins), Simon Lorne Chalmers and Jameson Colborne David McEwen. We will miss him but are relieved that the confusions and struggles are over. After graduation from Mount Allison University in 1946, he returned to New Brunswick and followed his father into employment with the Bathurst Power and Paper Co. Scott recognized the love of his life in a high school classmate and married Margaret MacDonald on Sept 17, 1948. The 50’s meant the arrival of five children and years of shift work at the “mill”. Life in Bathurst ended when “Scottie” accepted the challenge of starting a new mill for Consolidated Bathurst in New Richmond,Quebec, becoming mill manager before moving on to management positions with Labrador Linerboard, Stephenville, Newfoundland, and Kimberly-Clark in Terrace Bay, Ontario. He left each community a legacy of service to church and community. The life of mill work and mill towns ended when T. Scott and Margaret retired to Cobourg, Ontario. In retirement, he served on the Board of Regents of his beloved alma mater, Mount Allison, and volunteer positions with Trinity United Church. A life full of love, laughter and good times is how we will remember T. Scott.
