SCAMMELL, MEGAN - Megan Louise Scammell, 51, of Maple Grove, New Brunswick passed away peacefully on November 5, 2013 at the Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton with her husband Peter by her side. Megan was born on June 29, 1962 in Moncton to James and Margaret (Steeves) Scammell. Megan’s interests were many and varied, her academic and work career included museums, computer programming and the NB Community College Electrical Program. She led the way for other women in the trades and proudly showed off her work on projects such as the Fredericton Convention Centre and the Nashwaak Villa in Stanley. Megan was a member of the Stanley Agricultural Society, Stanley Book Club, Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival volunteer, played piano and was active in many community events and causes. She was a lover, defender, and rescuer of animals, taking in many strays (dogs, cats, horses, sheep, chickens, turkeys, goats, etc). She enjoyed knitting, quilting, stained glass making, gardening, motorcycle riding and most of all reading. She lived life to its fullest, and was a caring and devoted wife, daughter, sister, grand-daughter, cousin and aunt. Her love and laughter will be greatly missed. Megan was predeceased by her father James, and her beloved dog Sadie. In addition to her husband and mother; she will be missed by her sister Roby Ann (Milford Station, NS), brother James (Ottawa), brother Ian(Winnipeg), grandmother Anne McCulloch (Fredericton), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions are welcome at any local branch of the SPCA or animal rescue organization, Princess Margaret Hospital (Toronto), or the Palliative Care Unit (Everett Chalmers Hospital).
