MICHAEL MEKETICH
November 27, 1947 – November 11, 2013
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mike at St. Mary’s Hospital after a brave battle with cancer.
Predeceased by his parents Anna and Peter Meketich and his youngest brother Donald.
Survived by sons James (Nicole), Robert (Tracy) and David (Ayla) and grandchildren Brodie, Tyson, Ethan, Carson and Ava. Also survived by brothers Peter and Andrew, and his best friend and partner Pam Smith.
Mike was born in Fernie, B.C. and moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1957. He spent two years in the Armed Forces stationed in Germany. On his return he was employed by Western Forest Products from 1976 until his retirement in 2007.
Mike enjoyed the outdoors and was never happier than when was fishing, hunting or camping with his sons. A great sports fan, he followed all the Canucks and Lions games.
Many thanks to Dr. Joerg Jaschinski, Home Care Nurses Patrina and Jill, Emergency Room staff and Second Floor Nursing staff, especially Darlene, Dennis and Gabby, for your care and compassion during Mike’s final days.
To all Mike’s friends, thank you for your caring and support. Very special thanks to Diane and Lloyd Mager, John Jonas, Sally Skelton, Arden Inkster and Stan Anderson for sharing memories during Mike’s final weeks.
