Leonce Melanson
MELANSON, LEONCE - It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Leonce J. Melanson, age 86, of Sackville, NB. Leonce passed away peacefully at the Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home in Moncton on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was the son of the late Oliver and Edna (Babineau) Melanson. He was born in Cap-Pele, but spent most of his life in Sackville, NB. Leo was employed by Enterprise Foundry for approximately 36 years, and was a regular attendee of Saint Vincent's Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed cars and spent a lot of his time at his brothers' body shop. Spending time with his family was also very important to him, especially his grandchildren, and he was also an avid supporter of children through World Vision. Leonce will be sadly missed by his son, Michael (Betty) Melanson of Riverview; a daughter, Kimberly (Paul) Mill, Riverview; three grandchildren, Brittney, Kelsey and Kylie; one great grandson, Ethan, as well as seven brothers, Edwin, Laurie (Nora), Acquilla (Diane), Harvey, Amos (Madelyn), Valerie (Mary), and Gerard (Lois); a sister, Loretta (Harry) Beal; his former wife, Mary Lowerison, of Moncton, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Leonce was predeceased by one sister, Doris Richard and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Betty.
Arrangements for Leonce are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville, (364-1300), from where visitation will be held 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, November 21, and on Friday, November 22, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service for Leonce will be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 23 from St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville. Burial to follow in the Holy Rosary Cemetery. Father Allison Carroll officiating. Donations in memory of Leonce may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, Philippines Relief Fund.
