Peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Garden Home, Charlottetown, aged 92.
Predeceased by her husband, John Cameron Macdonald; son, John; and sisters, Evelyn and Helen. She is survived by sons, Jim (Marilyn), Matt (Ann), Bruce (Elaine Battrum) and Mike; grandchildren, Jason (Christa), Meghan (Tod), Erin and Alexandra; and great-grandchildren, Liam, Lucas and Abigail.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, on September 5, 1921, she was raised there and completed her nurse's training at the Saint Martha's Hospital School of Nursing in Antigonish. She developed an early attachment for Prince Edward Island often visiting with her Clark family who farmed in Emerald. She moved to the Island permanently in 1962 and lived in Summerside and then Charlottetown. She was an active member of the IODE and also enjoyed many years of fun and friendship at the Charlottetown Yacht Club.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home until Saturday at 9:40, then to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown. Visitation Friday 5-7 p.m. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre immediately following the interment.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
