It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Joan Burry, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, aged 85 years. Predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Wilson Burry (1998). Leaving to celebrate her life, but mourn her loss, are her daughters: Janet (Ron McLean), Valerie (Bren Hanrahan), and Gloria (Ken Meadus); sons: Randy (Bev) and Don (Lisa); grandchildren: Vicki, Bren, Marc (Lauren), Stephen (Ashley), Amanda, Larissa, Morgan and Jennifer; great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Cameron, Jaxson, Luke, Summer and Parker; sisters: Maxine Tucker (Ignatius), Gloria Efford (Robert), and Pamela Squires (Albert); brother, John Bursey (Hilda); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends – including special friend and confidant Winnie Sparks. Special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses, and staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital 7 West, especially her niece Michelle Walsh. Visitation will take place from Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., on Sunday, November 24, from
2-9 p.m. A memorial celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Monday, November 25, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Joan’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
