Passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home after a lengthy illness in the company of her daughter on Thursday, November 21, 2013.
We announce the passing of a gentle and gracious lady and devoted mother, Marjorie Sooley of Heart’s Delight, aged 91 years.
Marjorie was born in New Perlican on February 18th 1922, and raised in
St. John’s until returning to Heart’s Delight, married and born nine children whom she gave love, support and guidance unconditionally throughout her life. Marjorie’s love of her life was spending time with family and caring for her home. She enjoyed reading and sewing and keeping abreast of all the world news. She had a tremendous love of animals and always charitied to the wildlife as well as many other Christian organizations. She was a faithful member of St. Augustine’s Church, St. John’s. Predeceased by husband George Sooley, sisters; Emily White and Annie Rogers. Leaving to mourn and celebrate her life with thanksgiving are her children; Clarence (Nellie) Sooley, Sidney Sooley, Gary (Shirley) Sooley, Everett (Isabelle) Sooley, John (Elaine) Sooley, Rick (Linda French) Sooley, Derek (Daphne Spurrell) Sooley, Judy Griffiths, Josie (Gerry) Gulliver; twenty two grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and sister, Julia Piercy.
Resting at Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo on Saturday, November 23rd 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sunday, November 24th resting at St. Matthew’s Church Hall Heart’s Delight-Islington from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral.
The funeral service will be held from St. Matthew’s Church, Heart’s Delight on Monday, November 25th at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to St. Matthew’s Church Memorial Fund. The family extends special thanks to the management and staff of three north, St. Patrick’s Mercy Home.
“Your mother is always with you, she is the whispering of the leaves as you walk down the street.” Until we meet again, Rest in peace.
