VANDERZAAN- Klaasje (Kay) VanderZaan age 90 years of Eastend, Saskatchewan died peacefully at her home in Eastend, on November 21, 2013. She was born in Valburg, The Netherlands on July 18, 1923. She immigrated to Canada from The Netherlands in 1952 and has lived in the Eastend area since that time. Kay was a talented seamstress and worked at the Eastend Union Hospital until retiring in 1988. She was a member of the UCW and the Rebekahs. She loved flowers and enjoyed her garden. She was predeceased by her daughter Josina in 1953, her granddaughter Charmaine Wig in 1972, her father in 1977, her mother in 1989, her great-granddaughter Alyssa Pahl in 2005, and her son-in-law Justin Anderson in 1998. She is survived by her daughters Lineke Breen (Jack) of Eastend, Tonie VanderZaan (Ron Hargreaves) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, Johanna Anderson of Lethbridge, AB and Ina Wig (Daryl) of Blairmore, AB; her grandchildren Coralee Pahl (Shannon) of Burdette, AB, Brittany and Dylan; Wendy Lehr (James) of Medicine Hat, AB, Tyra and Zane; Norman Breen (Halle) of Princeton, BC, Casey Lynn; Stacey Breen (Tania) of Eastend, Matea, Ashton and Bodyne; Brian Breen (Dianne) of Lethbridge; Tanjia Heyden-Kaye (Jeff) of Ponoka, AB, Carmel and Mieko; Michael VanderHeyden (Carly) of Mission, BC; Justin Anderson (Amanda) of Stirling, AB, Ethan; Kirsten Anderson of Lethbridge, AB; Stephen Anderson (Blair Johnson) of Toronto, ON; Martin Anderson (Amber) of Lethbridge, AB, Lincoln; Amanda Tallon (Michael) in Rwanda; Edward Wig (April) of Victoria, BC; her brothers Jacob van Lonkhuijzen and Gerritt van Lonkhuijzen (Gerry) of The Netherlands. Funeral Services were held from Eastend United Church in Eastend on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ken Schrag officiating. The eulogy was presented by her daughter Johanna Anderson and the urn bearers were Coralee Pahl and Ed Wig. The pipers were Justin Anderson and Martin Anderson. Amanda Tallon read the 23rd Psalm. The organist was Beth Lundsten. Cremation preceded the service and interment of her cremated remains will take place at Riverside Cemetery at Eastend at a later date. Honorary Pallbearers were her Grandchildren. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
