The death occurred peacefully at her late residence, on Monday, November 25, 2013, of Velda Heckbert of Summerside, aged 82 years. Born in Millvale, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Adeline (Folland) Parsons. Survived by her husband of 63 years Ernest Heckbert; children John (Mary) Heckbert; Mary (Gary) Arsenault; Norma (John) Wall; Ray (Nancy) Heckbert; Dan (Linda) Heckbert; Paul Heckbert; Susan Christensen (Charlie DesRoches); Cathy (Billy) Gallant; Ernie (Patty) Heckbert; grandchildren Greg, Mike, Tim, Jason, Tim, Michelle, Shawna, Melissa, Kirk, Tressa, Vicky, Scott, Dana, Lauren, Kandace, Carl, Nathan, Robyn, Nicole, Krystle, Rebecca and Jacob; and by 18 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her brother Lloyd Parsons. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Saturday, then to the Summerside Bible Chapel, Summerside, for funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley. Visiting hours Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
